Ep. 138 - Philippians Series Ep. 9: How to be Content in a Content Driven World
We live in a content-driven world that is constantly telling us we need more: more money, more experiences, more recognition, more things. With social media giving us a front-row seat to everyone else’s highlight reel, it’s easy to fall into comparison and believe what we have isn’t enough.
But in Philippians 4:10–23, Paul shows us a different way to live.
Writing from prison, Paul says, “I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.” His contentment wasn’t determined by his circumstances, possessions, comfort, or status. It was rooted in Christ.
In this final episode of our Philippians series, we look at three truths that helped Paul learn contentment: the Providence of God, the Power of God, and the Provision of God. We’ll also unpack Philippians 4:13 in its proper context and discover that “I can do all things through Christ” isn’t a promise that we can accomplish anything we want. It’s a reminder that Christ gives us the strength to remain faithful and content in every circumstance.
In a world constantly encouraging us to compare, consume, and crave more, what would change if we truly believed Christ is enough?
Join us as we close out our study of Philippians and challenge ourselves to stop looking at what everyone else has and start recognizing the goodness, provision, and presence of God in our own lives.
God bless from our hearts to yours,
